Starry☆Sky

Latest obsession: Starry☆Sky (click the image for a bigger one. :3)

My first Otome game, picked up partly because I kept seeing products for it in Akiba, partly because Daisuke Ono (Koizumi), Tomokazu Sugita (Kyon) and Jun Fukuyama (Lelouch) are all involved in it. The first game had both Daisuke-san and Tomokazu-san…which is really what made me jump onto the bandwagon, haha. ^^; Other names you might know of are Hiroshi Kamiya (Michael from Macross), Kenichi Suzumura (Hikaru from Ouran), Yuuichi Nakamura (Tomoya from Clannad), and Junichi Suwabe (Tseng from FF7, though he’s technically a ‘minor character’). The voice actors for Athrun and Shinn from the Gundam series are also in one of the games, though I’m not as familiar with those two.

The whole game is actually split into four releases, one for each season: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Honeybee, the developer, also released 12 drama cds throughout the year (one per month) featuring one character each. When I was in Japan, they also had the soundtracks and stuffs out. Should have picked one up, I can’t find it at all here! D:

Anyway, really fun game; it’s a pretty standard school romance plot (you’re the only girl who’s attending a boy’s high school), but the artwork, music, voice acting, character development, and pacing are all really good. It’s a relatively easy read for a Japanese beginner too (spring was, at least. summer is proving to be a bit more difficult for some reason), though admittedly I don’t get all of it. I tried forcing myself to fully translate Spring before I go on to the others, but I ended up starting summer a couple days ago. ^^;

Anyway, if I were asked what the one best thing about it is, I’d probably have to say …. mm….the characters. (Which is kind of cheating … because that also means the artwork, and the seiyuus. But I’d be really hard put picking between any of the elements which I like about it. ^^; )
